MRexPodcast EP 30: Will Venom Ruin Spider-Man And The MCU?

Firstly, a small Editor’s Note: We recorded this episode over Skype so the sound quality might be inconsistent at times. We are currently trying to iron out the kinks so we have perfect audio quality for our listeners. In the mean time, we thank you for your patience and continued support – Hooch

In this episode of Moviesaurus Rex Podcast, Hooch and Tom Review:

The Fate of the Furious (Fast And Furious 8), starring Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson and Charlize Theron (F. Gary Gray, 2017)

The Founder, starring Michael Keaton and Nick Offerman (John Lee Hancock, 2017)

The pair also discusses:

The reviews for Alien: Covenant.

Joss Whedon taking on Post-Production of The Justice League.

Tom Holland being cast as Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie adaptation.

Is Sony going to ruin Spider-Man and the Marvel Cinematic Universe with their Venom ‘spin-off’ and their R-Rated Spider-Man villain Cinematic Universe (which doesn’t feature Spider-Man). Yes, we think it’s a silly idea too.

MRexPodcast EP 26: The Last Jedi and Cloverfield 3 – Potentially Revealed

In this episode:

Tom reviews Split, starring James McAvoy (M. Night Shyamalan, 2017).

Hooch reviews 12 Angry Men, starring Henry Fonda (Sidney Lumet, 1957).

Could Cloverfield 3 be hiding under the guise of another film? Hooch thinks it could be a certain upcoming release (but at the time of recording the episode, didn’t consider that the studios for the two films are different, so it probably isn’t… worth a listen though).

Ben Affleck leaving The Batman as director, stepping aside for Matt Reeves.

Star Wars Episode 8 has a title, ‘The Last Jedi’. Who could that be referring to? Hooch has an idea who it could mean.

Hooch and Tom also talk about the Super Bowl trailers for:

Transformers: The Last Knight, starring Mark Wahlberg, Gemma Chan and Anthony Hopkins (Michael Bay, 2017

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales/ Salazar’s Revenge (In the UK), starring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Javier Bardem (Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, 2017) – Note: Davey Jones helmed The Flying Dutchman, not The Flying Scotsman, as Tom and Hooch agreed.

Life, starring Rebecca Ferguson, Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds (Daniel Espinosa, 2017)

Stranger Things: Season 2, starring Millie Bobby Brown and Winona Ryder (Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, 2017)

Tom also fills out our unofficial ASMR quota by unprofessionally eating crisps/ chips.

MRexPodcast EP 17: Justice League V Avengers: San Diego Comic Con 2016 Special

In this belated episode, Hooch and Tom talk about San Diego Comic Con 2016. More specifically, they talk about what Warner Bros showed for the DC Extended Universe and what Disney/ Marvel Studios showed for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the DC corner, they discuss:

Wonder Woman

Justice League

Aquaman

Suicide Squad

And how WB is changing course in the DCEU as a result of the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice backlash.

And in the Marvel corner, they talk about:

Doctor Strange

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2

Spider-Man Homecoming

And upcoming Marvel Netflix series’ such as Daredevil Season 3, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders. They forgot to mention the Thor Ragnarok footage though… not that they had seen it at the time of recording.

This episode was recorded a week after SDCC 2016 and released almost a month after, so it’s all kind of old news by the time you listen to this but we hope you enjoy anyway!

In this episode, Tom returns from his travels and Hooch is very glad to have him back! The pair discuss Tom’s journey and the films that he has missed in his time away.

THIS EPISODE CONTAINS REALLY STRONG LANGUAGE – Imagine the worst word you can think of and then picture that being said multiple times.

The movies discussed in this episode include:

Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens, the Disney remake of Jungle Book, Planet of the Apes, Judge Dredd, Creed, Rocky, Deadpool, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Apocalypse Now, Hearts of Darkness, Sharknado 4 and an upcoming action comedy starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Hooch then goes on to pitch his ideas for a Terminator sequel and what the Looney Tunes can do in Space Jam 2.

In this episode, Hooch and Tom also take some time to talk about TV too, the shows mentioned include:

MRexPodcast EP 07: Movie Talk and News – The Great Batman V Superman Script Conspiracy

In this episode, Hooch and Tom discuss the new Vacation movie with Ed Helms (with him in it, not actually discussing the film with Ed Helms), Marley and Me (and its sequel/ prequel thing), Planet of the Apes and the episode concludes with what we have now called The Great Batman v Superman Script Conspiracy!

Note: This episode was recorded shortly after the first Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer was released (not the teaser but the one BEFORE the trailer which gave away Doomsday in the plot) – which only strengthens what is now THE GREAT BATMAN V SUPERMAN SCRIPT CONSPIRACY!

There are also poor impressions, as is to be expected, of Owen Wilson and Charlton Heston. Talk of Ben Affleck (director and actor in The Town and Good Will Hunting) also sparks Hooch and Tom to discuss Boston accents vs New York accents, accompanied with poor attempts by both parties.

This episode will also fill listeners in on why Tom couldn’t participate in our Star Wars special mini series and what to expect in regard to the future hosting of the show.

SPECIAL THANK YOU to The Jupiter Boys Podcast for providing us with the intro to this episode.
